Does anyone know how to get non-permanent (or so it says) marker off hardwood floors? Without ruining the finish?

Queen of Clean to the rescue! Do you have her book? I love it and it has rescued me a million times over.

For Magic Marker she says "apply a soft-scrubbing product in a circular motion, and rinse". If it remains, "saturate a cotton ball with nail polish remover" blot and rinse well.

She also says you can try "Ink Away." It's made by Goo Gone. But she says be sure and read the directions as to what you can use it on.

The other things I've always used on pen is hair spray. But try it in an inconspicuous place first.

Hope that helps Kate!

We have hard wood floor too (oak). And we have had marker applied liberaly also :) so lovely. We used a "magic eraser" --it's a mr.clean product-- and it worked... like magic! You could not tell that it had been used and thankfully you also could not tell someone had been doodling!
Good luck.

ooooo - good call Amy. Those do work like magic. Be careful though, Kate. I heard they can also burn skin if you're not careful.

baby wipes are also great -- providing the mark is relatively fresh!
