The advent calendar

Some of you noticed it behind the Christmas tree. Here it is. I have finally finished my advent calendar. Not quite Pottery Barn, but it works. It took many hours and alot of stitching, but I'm hoping it will pay off with years of use.
It's not complete yet, but it will do for this season. We put small cards listing either a verse, activity, or reminder for the day. We try to do it before Dave leaves for work in the afternoon. Eloise is getting pretty excited about it and connecting some of the verses with the people in her nativity. Lily just likes to swing the ornaments on the tree.

Only 21 more days until Christmas!

Kate you did a phenomenoal (sp??) on that!!! When I saw it behind your XMAS tree I actually thought it WAS the Pottery Barn one
You should be very proud of yourself. And you are NEVER EVER allowed to tell me you aren't crafty, AGAIN!
Got that??? :- )

OMG Kate - that is awesome! You are so creative. I'm having Keira mark off days on our regular calendar which is just a photo copy of my calendar from work. LOL! NICE JOB!!

That is beautiful. I read you blog all the time, I think you are the quintessential mom with your craftiness and all. I would love to take a class from you on mommyness. If only we lived in the same state...

Wow, Kate! That looks completely professional to me! I would've believed Pottery Barn! If you start cranking those out, can I be first in line? :)

I love it, love it! Way to make me look like the bad mommy....I put candy in ours! Oh well, we'll pray before we enjoy the sweets! You could sell that, my friend! You are super mommy in my book!

Thanks ladies for the kind comments. If only I had the time I would make one for you all.

kate - no bad mommy comments here. candy is great. I just couldn't find any small enough to fit in the pockets and not choke my children :)

Thanks so much for posting the picture. You did such a great job! I'm thankful we don't have kids yet...it gives me time to make one of my own (and yours is a good template). :)

So glad to hear you are concerned about choking hazards...can I call you Safety Kate now? ha! In a few years, you can put little candy canes sticking out of it, those would fit!
