the details

Since I have been running around like a crazy woman with little time to write a proper post, I figured I would give you at least a bit of an update.

*baby head down and ready to go

*4 weeks left

*can't sit down b/c there are too many things I want to get done. RESULT: swollen left foot, beauty at it's finest.

*baby's room ready

*had a wonderful baby shower this weekend filled with LOTS of chatting, Mexican food, good friends, good dessert, and lots of boy clothes - thanks ladies!

That's it! Now let's hope this heat doesn't get me down. Good thing we have AC.

Favorite Link Friday

I really needed to post before FLF about our strawberry patch trip, but my need to get things done around her keeps me from uploading my photos. And Lily's diaper changes b/c she ate too many of them. But I have found some good links. Two of the links are long readers, but very good. I've been inspired by them in the past and I hope you are too.

*A mother in the grocery store

*Quirky Economics - Funny about the alligator's. I guess we all know our priorities, right?

*There is goodness - Love this one, heartbreaking but very good.

*Cute Bean Bag toss for the 4th

*Now this looks like a fun kids craft. Maybe a bit messy for the younger crowd, but still very fun.

*If you are up for some adventurous cooking - firework cake toppers.

Have a great last weekend of June.

34 weeks

Dave and I were looking at photos from when I was pregnant with Lily. Dave thinks I'm bigger than I was during her pregnancy, which is always an uplifting and encouraging conversation for a pregnant girl.

The best part of this whole exchange was Eloise following up Dave's comments with this, "Mom, are you as big as the couch?". No dear, I just feel like it.

Happy Father's Day weekend. Hope you all are able to celebrate the dad's in your life. I have a few ideas here for some treats and a look ahead to the 4th.

*I've always wanted to make this jello. It looks so cool. But my kids are a bit freaked out by jello and won't eat it, so I think I may have to make it for the 4th of July party.

*These look delicious and I know Dave would love them.

*Dollar Store Crafts - some great ideas.

*35 ways to save on your grocery budget

*Cute 4th of July centerpiece

*Patriotic pops. These will be fun for the kids.

Have a great weekend!

Sprinkler Reviews

I'm a sucker for cute sprinklers and I've learned one thing, my kids don't show the share my enthusiasm. I've finally learned why. When a sprinkler is crazy or shoots high into the air, it freaks them out.

I've finally found the best one. But first, I'll show you the ones I've been suckered into that don't work.

Little Tikes Beach Ball

Very cute, doesn't move, soft spray. Popped and I can't find the slow leak to fix it. My very first sprinkler purchase. It's a take it or leave it around here. I get all excited to put it up only to have one of them ask me to turn it off within 5 minutes.

The Crazy Daisy

This one looks really fun and the girls always wanted to get it. Thankfully, I hit the Target clearance jackpot and found one for $2. It's great, but a bit too crazy for the girls. They don't like how it whips around and sprays them unexpectedly.

Now for the one that beats all sprinkler's - the BEST of the BEST
The 3 pronged, twirly little sprinkler for $2.73 at Walmart. They have played in this for at least 30 minutes everytime. They love it. It only sprays in a 6 foot radius so it's not ideal for your watering needs, but it entertains the kids.
The reason I think they love it, it only hits them around their thighs making it so that they don't worry about it hitting them in the face. It shouldn't surprise me that the cheapest sprinkler you can find is the best.

There you have it, my sprinkler reviews. I'm fairly certain every other kid on earth likes the first two and would be bored with the last one, but hey, what works for one, might not work for the other.

Favorite Link Friday

Last weeks links didn't end up working very well b/c I was at my parents. Something funky with the linking. But this week, it should all work out smoothly.

*Cute Happy Birthday banner

*My friend Angela would love this peanut butter banana treat

*I have great memories of my mom making donuts growing up, this recipe looks great!

*Extending kids clothes

*I am NOT a Laker's fan but this is impressive.

*This is a good simple idea for keeping your sink pretty and with all the flowers blooming this is even more inspiring. I may do this tomorrow.

Happy weekends to you all.

Hap, Hap, Happy

Allikaye's Mama tagged me for 6 things that make me happy. Here goes:

1. I'm so happy that I have wonderful friends. Especially those that let us stay at their house up in Bellingham and give up their giant king sized bed while they sleep on the floor or in bed with their children. And those who also let us have dinner with them and enjoy laughter until the pregnant girl almost pee's her pants. And great friends who know a pregnant girls desire for a LaFeen's donut just after a full breakfast at the Little Cheerful Cafe. We love you Bellingham friends.

2. It makes me happy to have had a weekend away with just Dave.

3. It also make me happy that on that weekend away he got into an accident driving 'inattentively' but was not hurt nor did he inflict major amounts of damage on my van. He just accumulated hurt pride, another ticket (3rd one in 6 months -- I may not be so happy if he gets another one), and a trip to the auto body shop.

4. It makes me happy that I have a mom and dad willing to take my crazy girls and give them a great weekend of fun on the farm. We love you and we are so thankful for our time away.

5. It makes me happy that my mom bought this new boy some clothes and a few other things needed to 'blue' things up around here. Another thanks, mom.

6. It makes me happy that this baby will be here in 7 weeks. And although I know my life is going to change drastically, I'm ready to start the journey and get to know him and who he is.

What are you all happy about?

With this hot weather we've been having, it's gotten me inspired to look up summer ideas.

*Oilcloth shopping bags...So CUTE!

*Could this nursery design be any cuter?!?

*Asparagus is in season and this looks delish!

*This is a bit creepy.

*This is just plain funny.

Enjoy the weekend

*some of the links were not linking - they have been fixed!

sinners

So the girls and I were driving today and they have been listening to Allison Krauss and her song, Down in the River to Pray, repeatedly. Or at least they ask me to repeat it and I comply. It's easy on the ears so it's hard to say no.

After listening to the song for the 100th time, Eloise stops and says, "Mom. Sinners are girls and girls are sinners".

me: "hmmm.....okay"

I chose in that moment not to launch into discussion about sin and just let her run with it for now. I'm wondering what her little mind thinks are sinners. I have a feeling it has something to do with the water and swimming, possibly a mermaid.

blank

Throughout the day I think of tons of great things to blog about, but then you know what happens, I forget. I cannot remember any of them. And I guarantee they were all funny and pretty good. Not that this blog is about being funny or a good writer, but when a good thought comes across, one has to jump on it.

Nevertheless, my brain capacity is short lived. I think it may be the long list of 'to-do's' before this baby arrives. First of which is to get this boy some clothes. Or else it's all pink sleepers when he's born.

So I may or may not be blogging much, but don't worry, I'll still do Favorite Link Friday for all those who love it.
